Lingerie Review: Hinda from Agent Provocateur

Black lace. In the lingerie world, it’s considered iconic for a reason. Elegant. Romantic. Extremely versatile as to the occasions it can be worn. It pairs seamlessly with everything in your wardrobe. An eternal classic, Hinda from Agent Provocateur is my pick for a fabulous start or always en vogue addition to your lingerie drawer this year.

Design:
Hinda features a high-end lace called chantilly leavers lace, which as a simplification, is when the design is woven alongside the ‘ground’ or tulle (versus the design being embroidered on top of tulle, or stitched on as appliqué after being cut out) on a special machine. It’s an additionally high investment lace for companies to produce, as due to the nature of skipped patterning (necessary for the design), it ends up with many loose threads from everything being woven together at once, and each of those threads has to be snipped and tied off by hand.

This chantilly lace has a lovely floral pattern. The ruffles around the cup and brief leg holes even have small woven flower motifs, which is a nice level of attention to detail. The set features several small black bows, and the straps have a pretty woven decoration. All these details give Hinda a delicate and feminine feel while being undeniably sexy.

The bra is a plunge cut, and gives a nice shape to the bust. It’s lined with tulle for durability and support. The suspender has an especially flattering curve at the back. It frames and shapes the bottom, whilst visually slimming the hips. All of the bottom options look great in their design. I opted for the briefs, which are a flattering hipster cut. They also have a cute ruched detail at the back, that makes your bum look amazing. The gusset interior is soft cotton.

Sizing & fit:
I noticed on the suspender & brief that the elastic trim seems to run more snug than Agent Provocateur usually runs. So if you were inbetween sizes or there was a lack of stock in your normal size, sizing up would be no problem. The bra band runs in line with my other AP bras.
The lace fabric itself has a generous amount of stretch to it. To the point where if you’re slightly outside of AP’s normal cup range, you may well find this works for you. The fabric hugs and expands in all the right places. This set is truly suited to all body shapes due to this, which can be quite difficult to find in Lingerie.

Durability:
As Hinda is made from delicate chantilly lace, it will definitely need to be hand-washed. However, this particular chantilly lace does feel on the sturdier side (reasonably robust tensile strength) so I wouldn’t worry about applying tension to the fabric (most commonly through body changes or hefty cup sizes). But I would unquestionably still be mindful of anything sharp snagging the beautiful lace.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend this set. Its classic black lace is a lingerie drawer staple and can be dressed up or down in its pairings. I cannot think of a body shape the cut of this set wouldn’t be flattering on. Additionally, it’s comfy, and also forgiving in either direction should there be weight gain or loss in your future.

Hinda is currently on an amazing sale (especially so considering this isn’t a set that AP reduces themselves) at NIN Luxury Lingerie. Bra 89€, thong 47€, and suspender 67€.
